Conceptualizing spiritual formation in distance education

FREE Webinar September 23rd 3:00 pm EST

Our next webinar will be led by Dr. Steve Lowe. The problem of facilitating spiritual development in online Christian education continues to prompt debate and discussion among providers and constituent groups.

The National Consultation on Spiritual Formation in Theological Distance Education funded by a grant from the Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion addressed this issue in its first year of consultations with leaders in Christian distance education. The result is a model that conceptualizes how online Christian distance education providers may facilitate student spiritual formation using Bronfenbrenner's Ecology of Human Development theory as a guide, within the context of social ecologies and the ecology of the Body of Christ.

Steve will set out the major components of the model and then open the floor to discussion and interaction among participants printed study guides. Individual members are leaders in the field of innovation and effectiveness in education.
