Dear Dr. Armstrong,
Let me make an alternataiave suggestion. In education it is really
important that your delivery systems be accessible to everyone,
including any students who have disabilities. For that reason I do not
recommend Webex, especially for the blind and I suspect that it may be
a problem for people with other disabilities as well. My
recommendation is TC Conference from talking communities
www.talkingcommunities.com
This solution is friendly for people with disabilities but has
features that make it a great conferencing solution for everybody.
Features include the usual text and audio chat, a white board, desktop
sharing, and a whole host of other features. You can even use a web
cam and do video conferencing. It has the ability to set the speed of
the room so that people with dial up connections can participate, a
real plus for students in the third world.
An additional feature I like is a recording function that captures
audio, text chat and I suppose even web cams. then with an additional
free tool those can be downloaded and put on your web site. Wouldn't
be surprised if you could put those lectures into Moodle but don't
know that for sure. I suggest you go to the above web site and get
acquainted with the software. If you'd like to meet me on our site
I'll be glad to give you a personal tour.
By the way, I do not work for the company and receive nothing for
referrals except the satisfaction of recommending a solution that I
know works well.
