Amy,

Moody Theological Seminary & Graduate School has been using a cohort modular approach with some success for several years now. I believe they do a one week modular and students may take two courses during each modular. They have 3-4 modulars a year. Some students attend several of them while others just one a year. Again, they are optional, but most of the resident campus students also participate in modulars to help move their degree along.

Pricing is the same tuition as the resident campus. Room and Board are extra for those coming from a distance.

Dear Access Ed community,
I?m writing to pose a question for the group.

We are looking at options to increase the flexibility of our scheduling options for some of our MA programs. Currently we offer 5 day intensives (~30 contact hours) for our courses. We are looking at options to condense the time on campus for a given course to 3 days and schedule two back to back courses. For example, this would involve a 6 day period for 2 courses with 24 hours/course. The courses would include pre and post work online.

Do you know of any graduate level programs that cover coursework for more than 1 course in a given residency?

We want to understand the positive and negative implications regarding educational quality, student schedules and finances, and degree completion. I appreciate any insight you can provide and/or assistance connecting with other schools that may be using this approach.

Blessings,

Amy,
We are looking to launch a similar format for an MA and PhD program
within the next year. These would be cohort model programs. Although I
can't offer any specifics yet, I do know this is a model used by our
Associate VP at another institution with significant success. He is
spearheading this through our ILEAD Center.
